Back in the Saddle!

It's been a while since my last post. It's been a busy Spring with a focus on lots of doing vs. reflecting and writing.

The busy-ness has been a mixed blessing. It's given me an appreciation for the 'being' vs. the 'doing' aspects of my work and life. How many days do you feel like you'd be a better person, a better spouse, leader or co-worker, if you made time for stillness and reflection?

How much time is enough time for meditation and reflection? Can you sit still with no television, radio, book or laptop for a half hour, just staring into space and enjoying your own thoughts? Would you want to? Would it irritate you or refresh you? I'm finding that at least fifteen minutes a day is about right for me. Enough to refresh, relax, appreciate all the blessings in my life, the important people and priorities.

My commitment is to gift myself with this time. Let's face it, I probably won't bat 1,000: a daily fifteen minutes probably isn't completely realistic. But I commit to giving myself this space as often as possible. And to use some of that time to notice the difference in my thought patterns, moods, and grateful heart.
